Join Shark specialist and naturalist David McGuire and other wildlife specialists celebrating sharks and all ocean life on a life-changing expedition into the Gulf of the Farallones for whales, wildlife and our finny friends. We have a NOAA permit to view the underwater habitat and search for sharks!
We charter the AMIGO, a 50 foot USCG inspected vessel and are excited to sail into the Sanctuary this Sharktober seeking white sharks, whales and other wildlife!

Help Save Sharks
Founded in 2006 to combat the shark fin trade, Shark Stewards catalyzed Shark Fin Ban regulations leading to the passage of the California shark fin ban and the Federal Shark Fin Sales Elimination Act. Shark Stewards also works in international trade under the Unite Nation at CITES, and in regional fisheries. In 2026 our efforts catalyze

What is Sharktober?
Beginning in 2009, we created shark education and awareness events on the plight of sharks, and to celebrate the return of the white sharks to our Farallones National Marine Sanctuary.
These events are intended to inspire the public and school children on the importance of sharks and marine protection and many species of sharks deserve protection. To date, we have reached over 100,000 people directly educating about sharks with at schools, aquaria, museums and the National Marine Sanctuaries. These are not for profit events intended to protect sharks and ocean health.
